Are Spanish people polite?

Ok, I'm a Muslim girl. I'm currently living in Vancouver, Canada. I'm studying English for fun in IH Vancouver. So far, I met three Spanish people and WOOOOOOOW they are extremely polite and kind. One of them is really funny we talked about his country and mine. He is a real gentleman I really feel comfortable around him. He is not racist or anything… he's open-minded. The other two are brothers and they are sweeeeeeeeeet. One of them is actually hotter than the other but both are handsome. I'm not the kind of girl who's tight and religious.

However, I heard really bad stuff about how racist Spanish people are with Muslims.. Is this true?
Are Muslims welcomed in your country? Are there any?
If you see a Muslim male or female how would you treat him/her? What are your experiences?

How do you say "You are cute" to a guy, thank you and your welcome in spanish?

Thanks in advance
Additional Details
Hey Tamara .. oh yeah I forgot to mention it. I have down to earth Mexicans friends too

Free Life!!!
here there're a lot of muslim people I think and we're polite and we're not racist ,you can be sure and i have mates in my classroom who are muslim... and they're like us ,no problem! haha I'm veru open-minded too and I think diversity help us of c!

You are cute= Tú eres lindo/guapo
thank you= gracias!
your welcome= de nada

Adiós!= Bye! hehe

hope you'll like my country ;)

When I visited Spain last year I was overwhelmed by their hospitality. I could hardly speak spanish, and yet they welcomed me with open arms.

in regards with racism towards muslims, I would not know. There is a lot of muslim influence in their architecture, and i think there is a rocky past in their country involving muslims. But as with most wars and disagreements of the past they are over, and only people who are insecure and narrowminded hold onto these prejudiced mindsets.

I love the Spanish.

As of every nationality there's polite/rude people in the world.

I visit Spain around 4 times a year & I believe that if you're in their country, you must make the effort with the locals.
Try & learn their lingo, smile & you usually get a smile back

The Spanish people adore children, no matter what colour, nationality or religion, there's no barriers.

There is probably racists people in Spain (as there is in any country) & I don't think that the media help, just hinder peoples views.
I have experienced a little tension with the Spanish police in Southern Spain. I wouldn't say it was racist though. It was in the Costa Del Sol & as North Africa is just 9 miles away, quite a lot of illegal immigrants head over in boats, some for a better life, but some to deal in drugs.
The Spanish don't tolerate drug dealers, nor any other crime & are very good at their jobs.

Back to Spain again
"You are cute/pretty" = usted es lindo
"thank you" = Gracias
"Your welcome" = de nada

If you ever get the chance to visit Spain......please do so, it's a beautiful country, with beautiful poeple (beautiful food too) Great culture, the most beautiful white washed villages (pueblo blanca) once you visit, you'll want to return again.

Don't say ''Eres muy lindo'' to a Spanish boy, that it's the way to say 'you are cute' in America, in Spain we say 'Eres muy mono', literally is 's 'you are very monkey', but 'mono' is 'cute' and 'monkey' in Spain.

Some people can't think that in Spain we are not polite because we don't always ask something with 'please'.

For example, when we are at dinner and we want someone we pass the salt, we say 'Give me the salt' and no 'Could you give me the salt, please? '.Also often reply only yes or no to a question, which for English speakers is a sign of bad manners.

And yes, they are a lot of racist people, bout we are also a lot of people that we aren't.

Come to Spain and try our politness! Welcome, christian, jew muslim or any other!

Tamara And Jacy R
Ummm... Well, I have MANY "Mexican" Friends, but I live in the United States, and I am Christian. They can be racisit, I dont know about to Musilums, but.... the ones I know can be very nice, warm, and generous people.

I dont know how to say any of those in spanish though!! Sorry!

Hope I helped... Plus, I hate people who are racist like that...

SUE
Of course they are polite! They are wonderful, warm and welcoming people. This gentleman that you have met is a good representative.

You won't find so much prejudice in Spain if you go. I know there is a problem with the Africans, who go illegally, and work illegally, and are often vagrants, very maligned and people blame them for a lot of ills. Yes, there is SOME prejudice about Muslims, because there are quite a few who have a reputation for being among the negative element, but by and large, people take you for who YOU are, not what others are like.

You are cute = Eres muy guapo (you almost swallow that g)
please = por favor
thank you = Gracias (pronounce the c like th in English)
You're welcome = de Nada (if they are from the south, you can impress them by not pronouncing the d....de naaa).

And, yeah, they can be hot!

As for how they would treat you....you need them to answer that one.
