Yes, they're pretty common throughout Spain. But they do absolutely no harm. They usually come-and-go and only measure about 3-4 inches long with tail.
I've seen them in houses here in Madrid too (but never in my own house) and also in country houses in Cantabria (northern Spain). They're not the same as cockroaches and are actually quite cute! If you can corner them you can pick them up and toss them outside without doing any harm. They eat flies and small insects. They're actually quite beneficial to humans!

you mean the little geckos they are harmless. One is living in my downstairs toilet at the moment. I don't mind, he eats the flies and mosquitoes. I call him Laurence.
Just hope the cats don't find him. |

are talking about those little tiny ones?
yep.
in Portugal also.
don't kill them: they go there to eat flies, mosquitoes, spiders, all kinds of bugs you have in your house.
my grandparents were always telling me about what i would do or not about the little creatures in a house: for ex: don't kill the spiders (they'll eat the flies, mosquitoes, etc) and don't kill the lizards. still, if you want thrown them away, but don't kill them.
PS - don't be scare of them, because they'll not harm you in any way. |

Yes they are but they're harmless. You often see the crawling up the side of a house & if windows are open they'll invite themselves in! |

Common, well not often seen but it does happen. They are harmless little creatures and not known to carry disease so dont worry. Dont try and get hold of one by the tail as it will drop off (a form of escape method) dont worry it will grow back!
Try putting a little fruit outside in the early evening if you want to encourage them, they love fruit.
Welcome to Spain.
The things you dont want in your house are cockroaches...I hate those things!! |

We used to see something like a gecko on the walls in our apartment in Sevilla. Not sure exactly what it was. It never stopped in the light for long enough for us to get a good look at him. He never really bothered us. |
