Shops are open all year in Spain. However some tourist shops and bars are seasonal and will be closed in october. Where exactly did you have in mind. More and more tourist areas are extending their season but depends where you are. Torrevieja, Benidorm, Malaga are usually open all year.

knitknackers
Of course the shops are open, where do you think the people who live here do their shopping.

Hola!
Yes they are, "I'm English but i have been living in Sain for 6 years"
They are only closed on "fiestas", when they do the processions.
Oh and the shops aren't open on Sunday's xD That's a day when you can spend it on the beach, or at home, well anything really just don't go shopping becouse the shops will be shut xO.They also close for about 2 hours more or less in the afternoon.

Hope i helped xD

Adios!

Yeah. People still need things...WHERE in Spain are you referring to?

The super touristy places might be a bit slower, and more prone to close up in the afternoons, but in general, in most of Spain, the people who LIVE THERE need to buy things, so, yeah, shops would be open.

are the shops open on whatever planet you're from?

Happy Murcia

What do you mean by still open?
Shops are opened all year round over here....the same as other countries....or do you think we just open in the summer when there´s more tourists and close the rest of the year?
Spanish people have to eat,get clothes and stuff you know....
Strange question...weird
Shops are normally opened from 9.30 to 13.30 (break for lunch, not siestas, that´s a topic) and from 17 to 20.30 (some until 22-23h) Some just open all day long, without closing.

Monday the 13th October the shops will be closed for a National holiday, but then after that it's business as usual.

Cherrypicker
I came back from Majorca yesterday; all the shops were open and lots of tourists enjoying their holiday.
