Wow. That's a very broad question. How many hours do you have to read or.. how many hours do *I* have to write it all down? hehehe.. You'd do well to buy yourself The Lonely Planet Barcelona Guide book. A truly fantastic book.
But you're only there one weekend so maybe that means you're arriving on Friday night late and leaving Sunday mid day - which means you're only there for one full day. That's not a lot of time for Barcelona.
You might concentrate simply on the Antonio Gaudi structures & Parc Guell and the Gothic Quarter and that'll fill up your one day. The Sagrada Familia alone will take about 2 hours and the Parc Guell the same.
You'd also do well to take the Barcelona Bus Turistic routes to get a good overview of the city - if you've never been to BCN before - and you can hop on and hop off as you like. http://www.tmb.net/es_ES/turistes/busturistic/busturistic.jsp
I can't help you with the shopping aspect. As for restaurants, well, there's are hundreds of them which are good.

The Zoo is great, also the museum and gardens. Here's a link to the City site:http://www.bcn.es/english/ihome.htm I've been there several times. Remember that they have siesta so some things will be closed between noon and 3pm. |

Just arrived from Barcelona.Great city!!so...
As far as culture is concerned, you should visit the museums of Joan Miro and Salvador Dali.Definitely visit Gaudi's constructions and the opera house-really interesting(great musicians).A flamengo show with food and sangria(traditional wine-based drink)is highly recommended!!!The food is fantastic, especially the paella. You HAVE to visit the chocolate museum and the food street-market.There are shops everywhere. The central ones have designers' clothes.Visit the central park and the zoo that is nearby. At Aribau street there are two nice clubs and if you like jazz the Harlem jazz club is perfect!
HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!!!!! |

I would highly recommend taking some time to wander around Park Guell. I could have spent days in there. |

I know this isn't much of help, but at night there are these fountains that light up and "dance" to classical music. It's gorgeous, and kind of romantic, and just real nice to look at. I wish I could remember what plaza/street it's on, but it's such a unique thing, I bet you could ask around and find it.
Pablo Picasso's museum is neat, but it doesn't have any of his famous works. Sagrada Familia is great, but get there early if you want to see the inside. Casa Batllo and Casa Mila by Gaudi are fantastic architecture. The aquarium is awesome, and if you go about 6-7pm, it's fairly empty. If you have the money, I suggest Poble Espanol on one of the hills on the outskirts. It's expensive to get in, but it has goods and foods from every province in Spain.
For food, stick to Las Ramblas, but if you want seafood, go to the end of Ramblas to the beach area, and there are a whole bunch of places to choose from.
Hope this helps! Sorry I'm not more specific, it's 6 years since I've been! |
