the closest beaches to Barcelona are IN Barcelona. Just go to Barceloneta (a barrio at the beach) and strip down to the bathing suit you have underneath your clothes, I hope...there ARE nude beaches, if you´re interested.
Sitges is pretty close to Barça.
If you go to the Ramblas, follow all the way to the waterfront (that's Port Vell) and turn left, follow the waterfront for a bit, you will pass an IMAX and then you are at the beach.
It's quite nice, I guess. I liked it. |

They are called Barceloneta and Port Olympic .. Sitges is about 45 min away by Train..
Take care.

You have to look around Barceloneta to find the good beaches. The first one you see when you get off the metro is kind of dirty, but you'll find some nicer, less touristy ones if you're willing to walk.
I went to La Costa Brava about an hour or so north of Barcelona. Stayed in a beach-side resort for a weekend, Tossa del Mar, which was beautiful.
Stiges isn't far either. You can take a train there for about the equivalent of $20 US, although I never went.
Las Ramblas is fun, kind of touristy, but a must-see. Go to the market if you want to see parts of an animal for sale that you never knew were possible to eat! La Sagrada Familia is cool, as is the rest of the Gaudi architecture. You can go to the Olympic Port, etc. Go see the Arc de Triumph too and walk around that area by the zoo (there's a cool Chocolate Museum nearby. It has the best chocolate milk I've ever tasted!)
I studied abroad in Barcelona, and traveled around Spain. I enjoyed Barcelona, but it's not exactly what you think of when you think of Spain. It's definitely got it's own culture, and even it's own language (although almost everyone speaks Castilian Spanish too).
My favorite part of Barcelona was the nightlife, the weather and the shopping! The shopping was awesome! |
