I and my family live in Benidorm, we have lived in Spain more than 16 years and most of these in Benidorm, and have never ever had any problems ourselves. There are pickpockets and opportunist thieves in Benidorm just like in London where I have actually been a victim myself, but it is not a town to avoid at all. Thousands of foreigners and Spanish holiday here every year and have no problems. Come and see for yourself, but like in the UK donĀ´t carry your worldly goods in your handbag, keep your wallet in your inside jacket pocket and be aware of crowds. Have a great holiday in my home town.

Like many places of a holiday nature there petty crime incidents but no worse than anywhere else ,i live in spain and often go there at different times of the year and i have never seen any serious incidents.
Like everything once the press get hold something they blow it up out of all proportions,just take care like you would at home and you will have a great time.

Benidorm is just one of the main holiday resorts on the Costa Blanca in Spain. Like any large resort there can be problems with people who drink heavily and then get into fights. Also visitors tend not to care about how they carry their money and credit cards so this leads to 'opportunist robbers ' who grab what they can .
But Benidorm is really a very nice place with very good beaches, hotels, bars and restaurants. Excellent night life, providing you are careful. We have spent many very happy holidays there and never seen any problems because we avoid the obvious places.
So don't believe everything you read in reports.

We live about 30 mins from Benidorm and go there perhaps once a month either to shop, or just stroll along the prom and have a meal. sometimes we go during the day sometimes the evening. I can honestly say that apart from drunken brits in the main summer season we have seen no trouble. Whilst Benidorm may be a high rise holiday resort it still has a large Spanish Population, many Spanish holidaymakers and some lovely areas especially the old town.

Listen to the people that live on the ground and remember that only the people who have had a bad experience will post on forums, those that have enjoyed a great time in Benidorm and this will be the vast majority will not post this on forums

Benidorm is just like any other cosmopolitan area, you need to be careful which areas you go to and when. It has its nice people and its criminals just like anywhere else in the World. It's just like visiting Manchester only there are less guns!

i live in spain also, and as long as you avoid the usual, dont leave your wallet in your back pocket etc...violence is everywhere, benidorm i lovely,dont let that put you off.
