Royal Palace is great, the Prado museum is famous and worth a look (it's free on Sundays!), and the Plaza del Sol is filled with charming shops and restaurants. Also plenty of good places to sleep and have fun near the Plaza del Sol.

I was so impressed with the Royal Palace and its history. You can get a lot of good information at madridman.com.

Hey I live in Madrid and if you mean where to go like at night...I'd tell you nightlife is awesome...the ditricts of the city like Moncloa, Huertas, Alonso martinez, Chueca, Malasaña...full of cool clubs and pubs opened up to 6 am or so...

Kamman is right: Museo del Prado, Royal Palace, Plaza de Sol, were you must eat pulgas (small sandwiches) or tapas. Also, the Street Princesa is a very good shopping area. And go for a walk in the Parque del Retiro, were you can also take a boat. At night, some people go there to make spontaneuos meetings and play the drums.
Have a nice trip!

I've been to Spain...you have to go to a clothing store named BERSHKA (guys and girls clothing) it's right in Madrid. They have the best fitting jeans ever and they are reasonably priced. But FYI....if you like them buy a lot because I haven't found them anywhere else except for in Spain.
