Life is fairly expensive in Spain, although that depends on where you are from, and what money you are using.
What are you planning on doing for "living"? Do you need a job? Then you actually WANT a city...I, personally LOVE Sevilla, but it's a fairly bustling city, and pretty large. You might be better suited to Granada or Córdoba, but then work might be scarce. If work isn't an issue, then I would suggest one of the small towns...I hear Dos Hermanas (near Sevilla) is a nice little town. Carmona is nice, and I love Ronda, but it's a bit busier than the others. I have no experience living in any of those places, I just know them to be calmer than a large city. If you are more beach oriented, then I would suggest the Costa de la Luz area. The only town on the Costa del Sol that I have heard people rave about is Nerja...I have heard good things about it, but never been there myself.
Research those, and see what you come up with. |

Hola a boemia,
Nerja was mentioned and I live nearby in Torrox, This side of Malaga is quieter than the Torremolinos, Marbella and Estopna side of the Costa del Sol.
Andalucia is huge but Almeria and Jaen are the quieter (deserted...literally desert in places:-) provinces.
Inland Seville, Cordoba and Granada all have their own special flavour and are well worth investigating. I don't find much in Huelva but the Costa de Luz is great...bit windy though!
But you'll find anywhere off the coast is quiet outside the major cities.
I can help you in detail only with my area. Here is a fun e-book to download which will at least give you a Taste of Torrox
Whatever you decide to do you will probably find a place in Spain will pick you!
Hasta luego

Compared to the UK and other EU countries Spain has a cheaper cost of living. Food is cheaper, eating out is cheaper and fuel is cheaper. Once you get away from the tourist areas you can find a more relaxed place to live.
As someone said, Nerja, it is a beautiful little town by the sea about 50 kilometres east of Málaga, or neighbouring Frigilana. Further on from Nerja there is La Herradura which is more Spanish than the rest of the area. That area of Andalucia is a beautiful place to live. The scenery is stunning. You are by the sea in a quieter area and you are only an hour away from Granada and the Alhambra Palace.
I'm fortunate, I live in that area.
Bear in mind. Andalucia stretches from Almeria in the east to Huelva in the west. That would take you about 3 - 4 hours to drive on a good day. Getting round Sevilla on a busy day could add an hour to your journey. |
