the age limit in spain was changed a couple of years ago to 18.but they tend not to enforce like they do in britain although if you buy them at the airport they do ask for id.my husband and myself brought back more than the suggested limit and was stopped but they did not take them away as we convinced them that they were for personel use .which they were but it was just the inconvience of being stopped and bags checked.but i have done this everytime time i go to spain .the allowance is only a recomended number but if you bring in more than this you may have to explan why. |

'Its Rob' is correct. you can bring back 200 x 16 boxes of cigarettes to the UK. I live in Spain and have brought 3200 cigarettes back on many occasions
There is no laws against carrying cigarettes when underage. It is only illegal to purchase them. Hope this helps |

Even if you can buy them in Spain, you're going to have to find a way to smoke them all before you board back to the UK. |

You can bring em back. You can bring back 16x200 boxes of cigarettes. Depending where you going in spain some places aren't that much cheaper though. Check out the link below, the leaflet explains it all.
If you bring back large quantities of alcohol or
tobacco goods and are stopped by Customs you may
be asked some basic questions about your trip and
purchases. You are particularly likely to be asked
questions if you have more than:
•3200 cigarettes •400 cigarillos
•200 cigars •3kg of smoking tobacco
•110 litres of beer •10 litres of spirits
•90 litres of wine •20 litres of fortified wine
(such as port or sherry)
These are only guide levels based on European law
and Customs do NOT enforce any absolute limits.
The questions and checks which the Officer makes could
be about:
• the type and quantity of goods you have bought
• why you bought them
• how you paid for them
• whether all your goods are openly displayed or concealed
• how often you travel
• how much you normally smoke or drink
• any other relevant circumstances.
The Officer will take into account all the factors of the
situation and your explanation. If you are unable or you
refuse to provide a satisfactory explanation the Officer
may well conclude that those goods are for commercial
purposes and not for your own use.
If we are satisfied the goods are being brought into the
UK for a commercial purpose, and are not for own use
we may seize them and any vehicle used to transport
them and may not return them to you. |

You can't buy cigarettes in Spain until you're 18 either, but you can bring 3,200 home with you - although these are alledgedly guidelines from HM Revenue & Customs, theoretically there is no limit. |

I think Spain is also 18, because before the UK smoking age went up to 18, my sister wanted to bring some back, who was 17 at the time, so she was a year too young to get them out of spain, but it was perfectly legal to bring them back to England, where i live.
To the person above, you are not allowed to bring tabacco back at the age of 13, but you have been getting away with it because customs are too lazy to bother checking. |

It is NOT illegal to bring cigs back to the UK from Spain, the duty is paid.
You can technically bring back as much as you want because we are part of the EU and if they are for personal use, however, you could run into problems with UK customs if you bring back too many.
Current guideline is 3200 per person
But don't worry if you take 10 cartons you won't have issues, you won't be nicked ;)
It used to be 200 but that is when duty is NOT paid, if you buy them in Spain duty IS paid and therefore you can take them back
Due to your age being 17 then you would be breaking the law, the UK customs would take them off you once you enter their custom laws, if you were old enough you wouldn't have to worry.
You take a chance that you sail through customs, if they open your bags and check your age you will more than likely lose them |

I am spanish. When I went to Ireland I was allowed to carry 400 cigarettes (20 boxes). The legal age to buy tobacco is 18 in Spain. Don't believe some answers like "carry as you can" |

it is illegal to bring back tobacco products from spain..
but you can just put them in your suitcase the same as most people do and take the chance,
at the end of the day it is your life... |

cigarettes you can buy from vending machines in bars so you will be able to get them easy, maybe you can shove a few in your suitcase but i don't think you'll be allowed to buy them in the airport to take home because the age is 18. |

you need to be 18 to get them through passport control back in the uk and you can bring 3200. |

No customs wont let you take them and you may encounter a tax on bringing tobacco products into the UK (if your thinking of getting a friend to bring them in for you) |

You should double check but I thought 200 cigarettes was the standard allowance... |

it dosent matter how old you are. I been bringin them back since the age of 13. You will be fine just put them in your suitcase.
Dont bring back more than you are allowed by customs or they will take them all. |

You can bring back as many as you can carry that are all the same brand. There are no restrictions and as long as they are for you and only you then no problem. |
