British territory in Spain requiring visas? |
I was told that certain tours in Spain visit a city/region that is under British control, and that entry required a separate Visa from the United Kingdom in addition to a Visa from Spain before you could enter this territory. Does anyone know what this territory is? I doubt its Gibraltar given that its on the coast. Any other British controlled territories in Spain? |

Yes, you will need a separate visa for Gibraltar if your country is not visa exempted. The government of Gibraltar provides just a limited information on visa which is:
EEA (European Economic Area) nationals may enter Gibraltar on production of a valid national identity card or passport. All other nationals require a passport or other recognized travel document.
Stateless persons or nationals from certain countries require a visa to enter Gibraltar. Gibraltar is outside the Schengen area. Persons who hold a Schengen visa and intend to enter Gibraltar from Spain should ensure that they have returnability to Spain.
Further information on visas can be obtained from the Immigration Department, New Mole House, Gibraltar. Tel: +350 46411. E-mail rgpimm@gibgibtelecom.net
The website of the UK government states that the visa requirements for the British Overseas Territories are the same as for the UK. If your country is listed on the visa list of the UK you will need a separate visa to go to Gibraltar.

There are no British controlled areas in Spain. Gibraltar borders Spain. I live in Spain but nothing would induce me to go there. Apart from a big rock, it's Britain with sunshine. You will not need a visa if you are on a tour. |

I know of no territory of the UK in or around Spain other than Gibraltar. I lived in southern Spain on a visa, and I went to Gibraltar with ease. There is a passport check at the border, but all they do it open to a random page and stamp it, they don´t look at visas or anything (which is what I was worried about because my Spanish visa had been expired at the time) Basically if you are from Europe or North America you should have no problem getting into Spain or any other countries in Europe.
I hope I helped |

British only control Gibraltar, which is a village in the coast, the most southerner point in the Iberian Peninsula.
YYou won't need any visa if you are an American citizen or an European citizen. If not, you will need both of them.
It started to be under British control in 1714, when there were a civil war in Spain between two relatives of a king who died without issue. Different countries supported one or another relative, and the one who overcame paid the British with that strategic point. |

There is no British territory IN Spain. Gibraltar borders Spain, and is British. But that´s it. Spain is Spanish. (although you will certainly find plenty of people who believe that Gibraltar should be part of Spain, as well) |
