Sunshine makes everyone happy very laid back country!.
But its not all sea sangria and sex.
If you havent a job, your in the crapper as its very difficult to find work here.
If you have a income pension or work then its a lovely safe place to live.
and in my case my children love it !. |

the way of life relaxing no one is in a rush to get antwhere and you can sit outside most evenings and chill out. Weekends you can spend round the pool in the summer or having bbq with freindly neighbours, everyone is happy to get together and help. Just a more freindly atmosphere everyone looks out for each other. Hard to explain.
Not everyone likes it though I see lots come and go as they can not settle. |

Not in any order.
The lower cost of living; the weather; swimming & sailing & cycling; eating al fresco; the food and drink; the locals; the work hard / play hard ethic (Catalunya); the history; the traditions and fiestas; newspapers with foreign news in them; the lack of political correctness; the good medical services; the beaches; the mountains; the countryside and the freedom to roam; the better roads; etc.etc.
The Bad? the burro-ocracy, the driving, ETA (and Basques in general?), the prices in el Corte Ingles, Carmen Sevilla, old Lola Flores movies; Spanish pop music (I liked Mecano); the thieving family of gypseys in and around Sta Maria del Mar in Barcelona. Nothing very important you will agree. |

Spain is many countries all rolled into one therefore the culture in Spain is very varied and interesting. Its Atlantic shores and the huge plains of the interior have very distinct characteristics. Similarly, the Mediterranean Costa's change ‘flavour’ as they sweep down from the Pyrenees through the pine forests of the Costa Brava.

The easy going way of live, although the mañana syndrome can get a bit frustrating at times, the weather, the friendly people, the fresh fruit, veg and fish, the fresh air and peace and quiet where I live in the mountins of Andalucia, the low crime rate, lack of pollution.
You may find the article about my experiences of coming to Spain 16 years ago and how it lived up to expectaions of interest:-
