The Beatriz Palace is nice, but it's 2 bustops away from town... The Alhaurin golf is wayyyy out...it's not even on the coast!
The Stella Maris is at the end of Los Boliches...
In Fuengirola you have 34 hotels plus apartments, etc.

I stayed at the Hotel Beatrix and it was probably the nicest in town. It is a bit away from the main action but it has a beautiful beach, nice rooms, great breakfast buffet. I think I had the best steak I have ever had there. Definitely had a good facial. It wasn't too far from town actually. I walked a lot and sometimes took a taxi. I think the hotel cost about 100 Euro.

We went last summer to hotel/pension Stella Maris-its right on the seafront with the marina to your right and the market a couple of streets behind.The hotel seems to be a mixture of private apartments and rooms to rent. We rented a studio via the internet, which was clean and very reasonable rates for august.
sorry I haven't kept the details but it can up on a google search of 'apartments in Fuengirola'. we also ate in the hotel and the food was good.
