Can anybody tell me about Spain?

I was just wondering what the cost of living is like in Spain. For example; - How much of the average wage is taken up by paying for accommodation (morgage or rent)? - Is food expensive? Things like that.
If you have anything else interesting to mention about Spain, that's welcome too. (e.g. musea, good/bad public transport, etc.)

Looking forward to reading your comments!
;-)

Hi, I lived in Madrid, Spain for a semester.

Food and housing is a little bit more expensive than in the United States. Housing is difficult to find in Madrid. A lot of Spanish people attribute the housing problem to the influx of immigrants into Spain. On the same note, Madrid is also a very diverse city now because of immigration.

I live in California where public transportation is pretty bad so I found the extensive metro (subway) networks to be really reliable. Buses are also very good for travel in cities and is the best way to travel to other cities in Spain. The train system for long distance travel is pretty slow and uncomfortable.

Also depending on where you are in Spain, the weather is not always hot and humid as the commentator above wrote. The weather in Madrid is cold all year round except in the summer when it becomes sweltering. In the northwest, I hear it rains about 200 days out of the year. The weather in southern Spain is milder.

Spain is an awesome country to visit/study! Hope this helps with whatever you are doing.

If u are in new zealand.. the way of living in spain is the same here than there.... here the food is a less expensive than there... the petrol is more expensive.

Examples
Bottle of wine 5 euros (not bad wine and not the best, the best maybe can cost 35 or 40 euros)
Bread 1 euro
Coffee 1´50 euros
Beer (caña as is called here) 1´50 to 2 euros it depends the place
Coca-cola Fanta Seven up all that stuff 2 euros
http://www.alimentacion.carrefour.es/
The link above is a supermarket u can see there the prices of food u only have to click and click later in the place " VISITA GUIADA"

Rent a flat can cost 300 euros per month in a city like Madrid.
I told u that coz past year i did a project about new zealand... and 2 years ago i was there... and the countries are different but the cost is more o less the same.

Mike
There is Bullfighting in nearly every town so if you don't believe in a fair fight then defiantly do not go. The weather is very hot and humid. Public transport is good in the centre but not very close in outer regions. Its a very medieval place, more so southern Spain though. The Beach's are great.
Have Fun!
