1. They just started a program to pay spanish woman appx. $1000 for each child they have. Spain is having problems with young couples in particular but people in general having children.
I think this is both interesting and FANTASTIC since I'm a spanish mom and the next baby I have I will get some extra money to help out!

2. Botellon is a problem they are having with youth's in Spain trying to save money and drinking in the streets. Instead of going to bars they buy alcohol at a store and meet at a PUBLIC location to have a night long party with lots of drinking!

When I was younger I thought this was very INTERESTING thing young people did this. Always something adults are talking about.

3. La Tomatina in Bunol (Valencia) is a festival once a year where everyone gathers and the entire town has a food fight with tomatoes. It is a very messy event!

I've never been to this but always thought it would be super fun to attend.

I chose these because they are random and most people wouldn't know about them. Something your typical tourist book wouldn't tell you!

.Frequently♄Dazzled.
- running of the bulls
- still have running bull fighting schools
- barcelona is a big tourist place.

The oldest restaurant in the world...Casa BotĂn, in Madrid, and the oldest Bar in Spain...El Rinconcillo in Sevilla,

Alhambra, the prettiest palace, at imho. in Granada.

google them.

Read the book called "Driving over lemons" by Chris Stewart. He was the first drummer with the group Genesis. He moved to Spain over 25 years ago. He went to live in Orgiva near Granada. This will give you an insight into life in rural Spain and how he integrated into Spanish life. He is still there today.

only three?

culture:

-roman ruins in almost each town of Spain (called by Romans Hispania), for example; Roman theatre in Mérida, Roman lighthouse in La Coruña, Roman walls in Ávila.
-invaded by Muslims between 711AC - 1492AC, and reconquered again by Spanish. Muslims ruins in South Spain (Mesquite of CĂłrdoba, Alhambra of Granada...)
-Spanish empire, the first modern empire in History and the biggest, including parts of America, Europe, Africa and Asia. it lasted from XIV to XIX century.

tourist places:
-Barcelona
-Seville
-Ibiza
-Madrid
-Mediterranean Coast

these are the places that tourists usually go, but North of Spain is unknown for most of foreign people and also beautiful and full of traditions and history; for example, "El Camino de Santiago" (look for it in Google).

i could write hundreds of pages but i canÂŽt. this is my "short-cut" of Spain for you.

have fun

History, culture and the people. Can't say enough good things about Spain, If you're at all interested in castles, roman ruins and the old style architecture, there is lots to see and do. It does help to get a travel guide, though.

The north of Catalunya (between Girona and France), one of the most amazing place in Spain for: landscape, incredible food (El Bulli de Ferran AdrĂa, one of the best cook in the Dali museum, the incredible beaches, if you like Golf (great places), very nice small hotels (www.hoteldelteatre.com, www.masdetorrent.com, www.massalvi.com etc).
