Can english proof of ID be used in Spain? (Ie driving licence)?

I don't know where these other people that say you can drink from age 14 got their information from, but I can assure you the age for drinking legally in Spain is 18 ( Spain is a member of the EU !!!) . You can only use your driving licence if it has a photo like the new ones, if not you will have to carry your passport.
In Spain you MUST carry photo ID by law at all times.( foreigners don't realise this.) If you are stopped by the police and do not have ID you can in theory be arrested. Spanish people have ID cards and foreigners must carry a photo driving licence or passport.

You will need your passport to get there anyway...so why not use that. I would make a copy of any legal documents though, just in case.Also the legal age to drink alcohol is actually 18 and to buy tobbacco. Though in this area they do tend to be rather laid back about it.

Your driver's license should be fine, if you aren't comfortable carrying your passport, and your drivers license (or passport) will be necessary to use a credit card, as well.

I would like to point out that the drinking age, however, is 18, not 14 ????? though, at 20, you will be above that, as well.

You will not need ID to drink here, unless you really look like a kid!!! ID will be needed to change money, hire cars etc., your passport is still the best, unless you have a photo on your drivers permit, it might be accepted.
Booze can be bought by anyone over 18.

No probs with your driving licence, but to be on the safe side it may be worth having your passport details reduced and put in a plastic card (like driving licence), just in case you get get mugged ! Don't drink & drive; you can get away with it, but if you don't, you'll have alot of probs.

I live in Spain and the legal age to drink alcohol is NOT 14 it's 18. I doubt that you'll get asked for ID but take your passport with you just in case. Spanish people carry their ID cards with them so unless you're really clumsy or not careful you'll have no problems.

As others have rightly pointed out, you can drink from the age of 14. Unless you look an extremely young 20 you will not have a problem. In any case, yes a photo driving licence would do the trick.

i doubt you will be asked, the legal drinking age is 14. Driving license would be fine though
