Ceramics. In Andalucia (the south) there is a great tradition of ceramics tiles (azulejos) and painted plates. These are normally beutifully decorated with simple geometric patterns, or drawings, and reflect both cristan and arabic influences in thier design (Andalucia was ruled by the moors for many years, and thier influence is still present in architecture, music and crafts).
For the most authentic you could vistit an antiques market to look for this type of pottery - a plate to hang on the wall for example.
Or for something more "fun" one of the ilustrated tiles with toungue in cheek sayings, proverbs and words of wisdom found in tapas restaurants all over the world.
Other areas famous for ceramics include Teruel, which has developped a style that is unique to the city. |

You could go to Toledo and buy the little gold and metal things the artisans sell there - they make them themselves - you can see them doing it with gold ribbon and a nail and hammer tapping it into the plate before they fire it ... absolutely beautiful |

Hand made basketry is typical in the west central part of the country. Leather goods in CĂ³rdoba. Different designs and styles of ceramics, pretty much any where. Paella pans, and other cooking supplies unique to Spain. Marquetry in Granada. Damascene work in Toledo, along with swords and armor supplies (yup. You could get a full, authentic suit of armor there, if you wanted it). And art work. You can certainly get more modern, free form styles of ceramics, if you want them.
