Princess Playa

We were in a self-catering apartment but ate at the hotel most nights. The apartment living area is quite small but adequate and we spent little time in it during the day anyway. The air-conditioning was pretty quiet, effective and very necessary as it was very hot for the whole fortnight. We did ask for an apartment with a pool view ( I suspect everyone does) and although we were on the pool side of the building any view was totally obscured by trees. This did make the balcony feel very private though.
The pool area is lovely and large so never seemed over-crowded. There are loads of sunbeds but certain positions, like under the tree shade on the apartment side, were reserved early. Staff were superb throughout.
Food was plentiful and varied although some nights were better than others. Dishes were restocked quickly and queues short if any at all.
There is a good programme of activities during the day and I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of evening entertainment. We particularly liked the Chinese acrobats and Temptations tribute group, and the hotel animation teams own shows were well-received.
The nearby beach got very crowded by mid-morning but was very pleasant for an early-morning swim. It was very hard to persuade any of my family to leave that lovely pool though.
There is a well-stocked supermarket very close to the back of the complex, close to the beach and a good hypermarket at Cuitadella. The resort itself has a nice feel to it, very family -orientated, and it was very pleasant to stroll around the harbour in the evening.

If you have no budget restriction why not go somewhere better than that nasty island?
