Car rental in Spain without credit card?

Hey dec....many congrats on going to see the grand prix. Fantastic.

There are usually car rentals available at or near the airport.

The only way you will get one booked in advance is with a credit card ....or.....as we would think a debit card.

Why wont they allow your debit card? Because if you paid by your debit card in December, its already paid for.

If I was you, I would contact Hertz and ask them WHY you need a credit card when its already been paid for with your debit card. Did it go out of your bank...you will know by your bank statement.

You will struggle to find a hire car company that will rent you a vehicle without a valid credit card, this is to cover them against any loss - car stolen, damaged

I live I Gran Canaria and there are many smaller hire company's where you can pay cash leaving a cash deposit they are not new cars but will get you from A to B Normally find them in a side road somewhere. hi, wen we went to spain not only did the booking have to be confirmed with a credit card but the person paying with the credit card had to be the licence holder to drive the car!
i know how u feel but we were lucky enough to know someone over there who just rented the car from their end for us, not much help to u i know but i doubt if there is anywhere you'll be able to do without a credit card :(

Oh this is a hard one. Why don't you just get a credit card as quickly as you can? They need the card no for if you damage the car, then they will take the charge direct from your card. Very nasty I know but you are unlikely to be able to do it any other way. We have a credit card for this purpose only. I will watch your question with interest to see if there is any other way.

they ask for a card for a number of reasons

1) you steal the car .. giving them Â£100 or Â£50 isn't enough to cover it

2)if you damage the car..

so a card is a way to guarantee you drive safely

my son hired his car through Auto Jardim Car Hire this was in Portugal and no credit card needed ,I think they also have this company in Spain. Good luck

I travel around Spain all the time and hire cars using just a debit card to hire from Hertz, Europcar, Avis etc..
In the last month I have used these companie 3 times without any problems

That's strange over the last six years I've hire cars in both the UK and Spain from most of the major hire companies although not Hertz using a Debit card, is it possible they have had a recent change in policy.

Sorry, no regular car hire company in Spain will rent you a car if:

a) You are under 25
b) If you dont have a valid driving license
c) If you dont hold a popular credit or Master/Visa debit card
