If you are looking for somewhere with lots of bars and nightlife as well as lovely (but crowded) sandy beaches, the cheapes place in Spain is Benidorm. It get a bad press, but is does what it says on the tin... i.e. not much in the way of spanish culture but it has excellent weather, a fun atmosphere and decent hotels.

Stay away from the most touristic places like the Balearic islands (Mallorca, Ibiza....), Benidorm, or Cataluna.
Cantabria and Asturias are great but the weather may be a bit more unpredictable.
The perfect spot is in Huelva (South, by the border with Portugal). Isla Cristina, Ayamonte, Islantilla... They are all good, cheaper than other places in Spain and they are great! Campings are excellent in this area and some of them have bungalows, which are a bit more comfortable than camping in tents but cheaper than hotels.

You will find great beaches and lower prices if you get off the main tourist routes. Try the northern coasts....Asturias, Cantabria... Try the Santander area.... The website www.hotelsearch.com has spanish hotels to check out. |
