Christmas in Catalunya? ?

We thinking about breaking tradition and heading to Spain for Christmas. Good time? Bad Time? If you had 10 days in this region what would you do? I am thinking I would like to split the time between 3 places.

In Navarra we have a lot going on on/and around the 25th but like everyone else has said we celebrate the Magi here... not the birth

Catalunya has some strange tradions regarding Christmas ^^
Olentzero is the Basqué santa... & Papá Noel is him in the rest of Spain

But in catalunya they have a thing called the caganer it is added into the Nativity he is a little man... watching the birth of Jesús while ´doing his business´

Caga tió is another thing they have... it is a log & you must hit it while singing a song like... pop log & give me some preasents... I think you'll be amused if you visit this area

Christmas is a family thing here in Barcelona, for example, so the 24th and 25th don't really have much going on for tourists, apart from the restaurant trade. The Spanish generally celebrate the Epiphany as the gift day, which makes more sense if you think about it, as the 3 kings brought the presents. In Barcelona for example there is a huge parade from the port all the way around the city with the kings throwing sweets and all the children go out to see it. I'm not sure about the rest of Spain though.

Christmas in Spain is actually what is often called Epiphany or Eastern Orthodox Christmas...January 6. In Spain they call it Día de los Magos - day of the Kings...This is the most important day of the Christmas holidays, there. I would agree with David...it's probably going to be fairly quiet for the full twelve days.
