Could I pass for a spaniard? |
My father is Argentine of german decent and my mom is a south africa of portugese decent but I'm studying in the united states right now and I would love to move to spain and asimilate and become spanish so could I pass for a castilian?

Yes, perfectly,
But they will realize you are not a Spaniard for your accent, if you have Argentin or American accent when you try to speak Spanish.
But don't worry, you will be accepted anyway and I'm sure you will have new friends soon.

That will be tough. Do you look like a Spaniard (too tall, too fat, etc)? Do you dress like a Spaniard (usually sharper than in the US and they do not wear flip-flops with socks)? Can you speak Spanish like a Spaniard (podé vos... is in Argentina, not in Spain)? Do you know songs from Spain other than La Macarena? Do you plan on eating lunch at 12:30 on your desk and dinner at 6:30? Will you miss MLB? Do you know who Lola Flores was?
Good luck but I think the answer is no. You can integrate, but if you are not from Spain that will be very difficult. |
