Well, this information is just 50% / 50%...
I am the marketing manager of an incoming agency in Gran Canaria and we work a lot with excursions.
You can go to Tenerife by speed boat (true), the company is called Fred Olson Express and this is the web page to book and buy tickets: www.fredolsen.es. The boat just takes 40 minutes, but the only inconvenient is that the harbour of this particular company is situated in the very north point of the island in Agaete.
There is a free bus from Las Palmas to the harbour in Agaete and back or you can go by rent a car. If you have the hotel in the South count with 50 minutes to get there.
Then of course you can fly to any other island in 1 day and come back the same day in the evening. I do it many times when I have to visit hotels in other islands. You can issue tickets directly with Binter Airlines: www.binternet.com
Although there is a ferry connection between Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria and Lanzarote you can’t use it, as it’s not a fast ferry and timetable doesn’t adapt on that.
Or connect Viajes Drago, they can arrange your trip to Gambia in North Africa (it´s the small country next to Senegal), the flight goes out very early and takes arond 2.30 h, then you can have a full day excursion in Gambia and you fly back late around 23.00 h.

These guys have an incoming agency in Gambia and they do this excursion very well. I have joint it last year.
I don’t know how much it costs actually. You have to ask them.
Then there is an excursion to the desert in Sahara (Morocco) which takes just 50 minutes by plane from Gran Canaria with Top Fly company.

its too far; only to marrakech by plane if you have money to spend...
Best bet it to go to Teneriffe by speedboat (1 hour) where you have the highest point of Spain, or to Lanzarotte (you need at least 2 days to enjoy) Fuerteventura is closer by ferry but not so scenic |
