?

In Spain no.

I've heard that it is a specific Mexican thing that, by influence has been spred in some other countries in central America and the Caribe. Maybe it has some pre-colombian origins.
I don't think it exist in southern part of south America, we should check it.

Comparing Mexico to Spain is like comparing a cow with a dog. We do speak the same language, but our traditions are very different. We dont eat tacos or burritos in Spain like many people think we do (believe me, a lot of people asked me this before) and not everybody likes bullfights. You will not find mariachis in Spain either and not everybody knows how to dance flamenco.
We are two beautiful and different spanish-speaking countries.

bcn_mimosa
No they don´t... Not a tradition here at all..

Take care..

Bcn_mimosa from Barcelona, Spain

Bonnie Ayr
No, they don't celebrate anything like that...just a normal birthday celebration

SUE
I do believe that the concept of quinceañera comes from the Narive Americans. That is the age that THEY became women. I never saw any sign of a quince in Spain, and I lived there for a year. They make a big deal out of anything that requires fancy dress, so if they did, I would have noticed.

Craig B
To my knowledge no they dont.

Spain and the Southern American countries really don't have that much in common except for the language!!

(i am right in thinking that quinceaneras is a tradition of celebrating a girls 15th birthday?? )

del c
We dont have quinceaneras, but when a girl reaches 18 yrs
is "presentada en sociedad" and there is a big party too,
o "puesta de largo" same ****!!!!
