Does anyone know any non-turistic beaches in Costa del Sol I can get to (also by car) near/from Fuengirola?

I'm going to Fuengirola, Spain in March and I would like to find some beaches that are not too crowded off the mainstream tourist path. I know the Costa del Sol is perhaps too popular for this but some of you might have found one! Can anyone help? Nice clean waters is what I'm looking for. I will have a car so I can travel quite far if the place is worth it! Also, does anyone know if I can expect good weather in March? Thank you!

Cabopino Beach is the nicest one I've found in the local area to Fuengirola, Clean sand and cleaner water than in other areas (Costa Del Sol isn't known for it's clean coast line).

It is a large stretch of beach so it is always empty.
It has some fantastic fish restaurants and Tapas bars off it also.

Be careful though if you wander too far you could end up in the Nudist part of the beach!

Guadalmar beach is not far from Torremolinos and is a 'locals' beach, there are two parts the anything goes part - nudists, topless and fully clothed and the second part where nudism isn't permitted.

March can be a strange month, it could be fabulous, or it could be cold, wet and windy, it's a lottery. Bearing in mind Easter is in March it will probably terrible, public holidays here are the same as in U.K. the weather always seems to change - for the worst!

East of Malaga you will find great cove beaches away from the touristic fuengirola,Marbella area. The weather can be very changeable but still warm. Have a great holiday.

If you travel east of Malaga to a place called Nerja, then come off the motorway and take the old N340 in the direction of La Herradura (in Spanish it means the horseshoe) there are some beaches along there that very few people know anything about. Some aren´t easy to get to from the road. There may be a short walk down to the beach. There are no restaurants or hotels, or shops of any kind, but you will have some beautiful beaches to visit.
Further on from La Herradura there is a place called Marina del Este. It´s difficult to find but once you are there it is exquisite. The beach is quiet. There is a marina there which is worth seeing but the restaurants are pricey. Like everywhere in March you have to trust the weather, but you have a good chance of fine weather. That area is known as the "Costa Tropical".
I´m lucky, I don´t live to far from here.

It can still be cold in March.. It is only swimming weather for physical training instructors from Hamburg and the local tourist office advisors (who don't tell the truth!).
Take your wet suit.

The Costa del Sol has been more or less ruined and the sea is dirty.
But in March you will find the beaches empty because it's far too cold for locals.

For good beaches you have to travel east to Nerja and beyond or west to Tarifa and beyond. Have a look at Google Earth.

To the west, the Atlantic is cold but Tarifa is one one THE best places for windsurfing. Have a look further west to Chiclana (La Barrosa), Trafalgar, Bolonia and around there. The beaches can even be called unspoilt with the odd cow wandering past!

as carly said Cabopino is nice but dont go into the sand dunes as you will get a suprise, also the next one down is my local beach in Marbesa it's about 10 mins from fuengirola heading to Marbella
