The Parador at Arcos de la Frontera is a wonderful experience. I have stayed there an I loved the place.
There are some great beach places like Chiclana de la Frontera near Cadiz, but beware, August is the traditional month for all Spaniards to have their summer holiday and many head for the coast. |

August is difficult, especially by the coast.
Drive out of the airport into Jerez and turn east along Calle Arcos and drive into the mountains.
Arcos is nice (as mentioned) but there are lots of small white towns on the road to Ronda.
Finding somewhere to stay near the sea is difficult.
Try as suggested,to the east of Chiclana, and near Vejer de la Fra. / Trafalgar. Once you go as far as Tarifa, finding somewhere becomes almost impossible. Try Conil, there are a couple of hotels there. |

In AndalucÃa beyond the beaches of the “Costa del Sol " that line the coastal areas, are the famous "white villages you'll also find a rich history: Granada's Alhambra Palace and Fortress were the last Moorish stronghold to be taken by the Catholic Kings in 1492, while the beautiful city of Seville boasts a majestic cathedral and is the proud home of flamenco.

Not knowing your budget it's not easy to recommend. But check out http://www.tripadvisor.com
For under £50 the Tierras de Jerez is a good place. Very central. |

if you want to be on the beach all day i can't help you , but if you want to see spain i'd recommend antequera.
perfectly located between granada, seville, cordoba and malaga, and near to the pueblas blancas, the flamingos at fuente, lake iznajar, etc.etc
and it's an absolutely beautiful town
there are a couple of small hotels, or you could search the net for apartments or villas in local / nearby villages.
get one with a pool as it will be hot!!!
if you can wait til next year you can rent my house! |
