The typical english sliced loaf (such as Kingsmill) is imported from the UK, and as such is more expensive than the local version.... You may pay anywhere from 2.50 € to 3.50 € for this type of loaf...
The spanish equivalent will cost anywhere from 0,85 € to 2,45 € depending on the brand and the supermarket where you make your purchase. (Hipercor, Carrefour, Supersol, Mercadona, Lidl, etc.).
The typical european bread (baguette, vienna loaf, etc) can cost about 0,85 € and you can buy it at any local bakery.
The local bakeries have a very large assortment of different breads, white, wholemeal and special breads.
These are just general guidelines...prices fluctuate depending on location, etc. but they will not be too far off the prices I have indicated here... |

That is crazy, you will pay 50 cents, (give or take a few cents) for a baguette, or about 70 if you buy the store brand sliced white/wheat bread. |

Depending on the type of bread. If you want like American White bread, then yes, it's more expensive. But their bread that comes in like baguette loafs (which is delicious I might add) is not only 1 Euro. That bread is cheap because they eat a loaf of bread a day there. |
