Hi, Most of my extended family are spanish, and the traditional gift would be food,especially something that youve made yourself,but I can see that would be impractical for you with you not living there.
This gift of food would also be offered for many other reasons such as illness,breavement,birth of a baby etc.
if you are able to phone, then there are many delicatessans who will deliver a beautiful cake to your sister if you cant get there, or you could pick it up before you go.
otherwise you could buy something for the kitchen or cooking. |

After living here in Spain 17 years and having Spanish family, I can say we don't usually take anything for a housewarming gift. If I were you I would take a good bottle of Rioja red wine (as we would in the UK,) it always goes down well. |

It would all depend on the area,where I lived the neighbours would turn up with food and drink,others may be different of course but as far as I know there is nothing that is classes as a national gift, |
