The Palau Nacional, the emblematic building of the 1929 International Exhibition, is the home of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. It is situated on the mountain of Montjuïc, a privileged site from where you can enjoy a magnificent and unique view of the city of Barcelona.

The Palau Nacional is situated in a unique setting: Montjuïc, the mountain of museums, leisure and sport, well on the way to becoming an area of culture and life. The institutions you will find spread around the Park, of renowned international prestige, make Montjuïc the museum centre par excellence in Barcelona, with a diverse, complete offer. As well as the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, you can visit the Fundació Joan Miró, the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya, the Museu Etnològic and CaixaForum, among others.

Palau Nacional, just next to my house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Palau Nacional is situated in a unique setting: Montjuïc, the mountain of museums, leisure and sport, well on the way to becoming an area of culture and life.

Near the Plaça d'Espanya, above the Exhibition Grounds, at the top of a wide flight of steps, stands the giant domed Palau Nacional. The palace was originally built for the World Exhibition of 1929. Leading up to the Palau Nacional is the Magic Fountain. From June through September the site is a spectacle of light, water, color, and music.

The Museu d'Art de Catalunya covers with its collections all periods of the history of Catalan art. The Department of Gothic Art with its collections is not limited to Catalonia, but also includes works from many other artists, from other areas of Spain, and from the Spanish Netherlands.

The Department of Romanesque Art is world-ranking. Here you can see magnificent frescoes from many churches in the Pyrenean region of Catalonia.

The institutions you will find spread around the Park, of renowned international prestige, make Montjuïc the museum centre par excellence in Barcelona, with a diverse, complete offer: the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, the Fundació Joan Miró, the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya, the Museu Etnològic and CaixaForum, among others.
