dude you are in for a treat its one of the best cities in the world!
things to do;
walk down las ramblas on market day (sunday)
park guell is awesome, bring a little picnic and chill out, listen to the performers in the park.
visit sagrada familliare the unfinished cathederal that is an excellent trip.
take in a match at fc barcelona.
go out for the nightlife things dont even start getting going till about midnight.
get yourself a touristico bus ticket which will allow you to travel all around the city very easily.

- Miro museum (fundacion miro) in the olympic park area of Barcelona

- also, go to parc guell. there's light hiking, and gaudi stuff.

- spend some time hanging out on las ramblas. be sure to check out the market (la boqueria)

- i wouldnt normally endorse double-decker tour buses, but in barce, they're almost worth it...there's so much to see, and much of it is spread out...it's a great way to get your bearings before you start exploring in detail

- cadaques is a beautiful fishing village in a rocky bay. dali lived there for a while too.

- for food, try a restaurant named los caracoles near the gothic quarter...it was just fantastic. they had chickens roasting on spits on the outside of the building. very reasonable prices. one of the best meals I have had in europe.

Museums galore! Art, Erotica???? I either never knew about that, or forgot. Roman ruins galore!!! (most of them are in old basements, recently excavated). Chocolate!

All the architecture! and a bunch of monuments!

Take a walk down La Rambla, full of living statues and flower stalls, from there walk through Plaza Catalonia to Passeig De Gracia where all the really expensive shops are, as well as 2 Gaudi Buildings (Casa Batllo and La Pedrera) and other Modernist buildings. If you´re into Guadi visit Park Guell. The cathedral in Barri Gothico (the gothic era district) is worth a visit, and enjoy the stroll alongst all the tiny windy streets there. If you want to escape the city for a day, the monastery of Montserrat is amazing, located on a surreal rock formation.

Inland Catalonia is gorgeous, little villages like Rupit are worth a visit. The extreme north of catalonia, practically on the french border is home to Salvadore Dali´s house in Figueres, and nearby Cadaques was a favourite spot of his too.

South to barcelona city, Sant SadurnĂ d'Anoia and surrounding area is a wine growing region, producing wines and Cava (champagne). There are hundreds of producers and you can visit their bodegas. The biggest producer of Cava is Codorniu and ther do a very interesting tour with cava tasting for just 4 Euro. http://www.codorniu.com/

For costal tourism, the Costa Brava north of Barcelona is very pretty, but not really a beach bums place as it´s rocky. From Blanes all the way south of Barcelona there are sandy beaches, clean and safe for sunbathing and swimming.

Remember it gets very hot, temperature here is over 30 degrees and it´s 11 at night. Enjoy!!
