Have stayed twice in Calella & during July, this year, visited it again whilst staying in the next resort, Pineda. You should find enough in the way of bars and clubs to keep you entertained, plus most hotels also have entertainment.
The beach is large, clean and has coarse grained sand. About every 100 yards there is a beach restaurant/bar with toilets, and there are beach volleyball nets and various watersports. Pleasure boats also come ashore if you wish to take a trip. One tip regarding the beach is be very careful if the children go into the water, as after a few steps it shelves quite steeply and you are quickly out of your depth.
The train will take you to Barcelona for a ridiculous price of 6 euros & runs about every half hour. If you wish to go to Lloret you can also catch the train to Blanes, and then a bus to Lloret.
If you like to shop, Calella has around 800 shops, many of which can be found in the long pedestrianised shopping precinct, Carrer de l'Esglesia. There is also a large market on Saturdays.
You should find the holiday tourist guide "Calella" in most of the hotels. It's a free publication and full of information. If you have difficulty getting one go to the Tourist Infomation office, which is opposite Hotel Garbi on the seafront.
Have a great holiday.

Well i have been to Calella, and the same hotel. It is lovely there, and your kids will love it. I live in Spain, in Valencia, i have lived here for six years. It's so hot in Spain. Don't worry there are so many places in Calella. If you want me to teach you Spanish or know more info. add me to your contacts. Hope you and your kids have lots of fun.

kisses. :)

I went recently and took a 14 year old grandson and an 88 year old M-i- Law.We all had a great time. We often walked down the beach and did a bit of gift shopping . In the evenings we popped into a little pub called 'Poppa Joe's' - it's a hoot ! Young children are always welcome in Spain.
We went on a trip to Barcelona to see the football stadium - impressive - but shopping in that city is very expensive ! (but you MUST go ! )
you'll enjoy it !

It was my first holiday abroad 30 years ago and I thought it was great but passing through it 10 years ago I thought it had gone down hill a lot and every space had hotel or apartments build on it. The beach is rough sand and you can only get to it by going under the railway line, it is a good place to stay if travelling to Barcelona. they have the usual trips and the glass bottom boat.

I went 28yrs ago, so the place will have changed a lot, but the beach was wonderful, long golden sands, that will not have changed. You can get a train to Lloret de mar goes right along the coast.

I'm going in 5 weeks time, but I'll only be there for a few hours.
