Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudi ( 2,056,448 visits/year)- A Giant Temple designed by the master architect Antonio Gaudi. This building has been under construction since 1882 and they've still got another 30 to 80 years (depending on funding and resources) to go before it will be finished.

Another one of Antonio Gaudi's creations once again hits the top 10 most visited attractions in Barcelona. This building used to be called Casa Mila but nowadays it's more commonly known as La Pedrera which means "quarry" . Gaudi was instrumental in completing this building and his characteristic wavy brick work and colourful tiles are also evident on this masterpiece.

No surprises here. If you are a footie fan then this museum is a must see. It has wall to wall trophies, pictures and statues of the greats. I'm not a football fan but I still enjoyed walking round this museum. When you buy your ticket you have 2 options. You can buy a ticket for the museum and to see the stadium or you can buy a dual ticket where you get to see the museum and behind the scenes at the club e.g. changing rooms, VIP lounge, press conference areas etc. For more details

Barcelona Zoo is based in the Parc de la Ciutadella the best way to find it is to go to Ciutadella park and to follow the signs to the Zoo. The zoo has a wide variety of animals on show. i lived 3 years in Barcelona, so I'll say that you should take the touristic bus (even if for some people it sounds, not typical enoug, I can tell you that it is the cheapest and more efficiant way to visit the entire Barcelona).. this way you won't miss any important location (museum, place to see, architecture, history, etc). Then a part from that you need to see:
The beach, Tibidabo (this is the highest mountain just behing Barcelona, and you see the entire Barcelona), El Barrío Gotico (this is the area located between Plaza Catalunya and the Beach), for shopping (Diagonal Mar, La Maquinista (a bit more far away), for seeing a typical catalan village: go to Sitges, this is a very nice location: for party, landscape and good food.
If you have more time: www.portaventura.com, this is an attraction part like Euro Disney....
When going at night, be carefull on Las Ramblas and near the beach, they rob the tourist.. so when walking there, don't speak loud english or any foreign languages, don't take your cell phone, your ID, too much cash and no credit cards! Don't put expensive jewllery and try to behave calm and not jumping around, like some tourists who are drunk and get very easily robbed! This is nice place to go, but be careful..

The Chocolate Museum. A little less known but, YUMM! and interesting.

Definitely have some of the fresh, homemade Ice Cream, and have churros and chocolate at the Café de la Opera. It's on the Ramblas, about halfway, and across the street from the Opera (logically).

Eixample and all things Gaudí, MUST see the Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell.

Barrí Gotic, and the Cathedral. Definitely do the walking tour around the barrio.

Palau Musica, and take in a concert if you can.

Picasso Museum.

Miró Museum at Mont Juic.

Poble Espanyol is supposed to be terrific, but unless you really need to see architecture from all of Spain, we found it to be just overpriced modern craftwork, NOT traditional crafts from around the country, as we expected. It was more like a glorified Craft Sale like the ones they have here for every holiday. Keeping in mind that the architecture, while it REPRESENTS styles from all over the country, was BUILT to be what it is, which is almost like Disney parks, and not like the real thing. So that one is a judgement call.

Tibidabo amusement park.

Aquarium.

Zoo.

Definitely go down to the Port Vell and have seafood dinner.

Side trips that are good from Barcelona:

Mont Serrat - historic and religious monument. Very worth the trip.

Any of the beach towns. Tarragona has some wonderful Roman Ruins. Girona has a wonderful medieval old town, with a Jewish Quarter that is spectacular!
Cadaqués was home to a whole bunch of artists, notably Impressionists.
Figueres was Dalí's home fot a long time, and his home has been turned into a museum. Very COOL!
Wine country. Champagne country.

LOTs to do in and near Barcelona.

One warning: keep an eye on your valuables. Lots of pickpockets and petty thieves about.

Invest in one decent guide book.
You could do a lot worse than "Time Out-Barcelona" or Dorling Kindersley's "Barcelona & Catalonia"
They are both updated yearly, get the latest version and if they are no worse than my 2003 copies you will thank me for the tip :)

Bueno, chaval, que si vienes a Barcelona te lo pasarás muy bien y te encantará la ciudad y los alrededores; pero cuidado si estás borracho porque puede aparecer otro inglés borracho y dos ingleses borrachos......
