Got an interview with thompson on saturday? |
for a overseas travel advisor (im guessing this is a posh way to say REP) I am 27 and have no interest in being involved in the 18-30 repping, quite frankly my years of that are over. I want to work hard and have some (limited i know) free time in a family resort. Should I make this clear to them at the interview and what do you think the chances are of them listening to a preferance like that? |

I would make that quite clear at the interview. I've been interviewed by Thompson, years ago. There were 2 stages then . Don't know if it is any different now. Anyway, yes be yourself, they will ask questions about where you'd like to work, what type of person you are etc.
My interview was at least 18 years ago, I can't remember the detail too much. The 2nd part was a presentation, I got that far! It was pretty tough for me, I was about 22. Naive & quite intimidated by the Panel I think !
I hope you get through. I envy you because I didn't succeed at that . I really wanted to be a "rep" then.
Good Luck ! |

Maybe I'm too late to answer this question, but here goes:
The last thing I would tell them is that you want time off, that you have no interest in 18-30 (they don't do that any more anyway) but some of your clients at the resort WILL be in that age range and therefore you must be prepared to deal with them. Time off for reps is little and not very sociable as you have to work as and when and long hours. It would be good to tell them that you intend to take classes in Spanish, but they also can send you anywhere else in the world, but Dominican Republic also speak Spanish so that shows you are interested in mixing with the locals etc.
In general the pay here in Spain is around 600€ a month but you get free accommodation (shared with other reps), you will be expected to sell trips to the newcomers at the welcome parties and you get commission for that which of course is a bonus. You can earn good money if you are good at selling.
I have been in Spain 17 years and have friends in the business.
Good luck |
