I have lived in Sevilla. ABSOLUTELY recommend it completely!!!!

I have also been to Granada "varias veces". It's much smaller, but extremely charming! During my last visit, I met a couple of young ladies who had just finished up a semester there. I asked them if they thought it was too small (I did...wrong!) They responded that they were constantly discovering new corners of the city.

Both are INCREDIBLY beautiful places. Obviously, I'm a bit prejudiced.

The accent in AndalucĂa is going to throw you. You will probably only just be getting used to hearing it when it's time to leave. Plan to go back for longer sometime in the future. To truly become fluent, you need at least 10 months. That is assuming that you have a good background. Longer if your grammar-vocab isn't really firm yet.

Málaga...go for a weekend if you really must...it's supposedly kinda overrun by tourists and British ex-pats. You aren't likely to learn as much there as if you are stuck in the middle of Sevilla, trying to find your way back to your apartment. (just ask where the Giralda is, if you can't see it. Once you have your bearings, based on the Cathedral/Giralda, you should be fine).

¡Buen viaje!

My choice would be Granada, just barely. But it depends on what you want. It's smaller than Sevilla, but still has some great history and architecture (the Alhambra), and it's near the mountains, which are gorgeous in the summer. Nightlife is not as good as Sevilla, but still fine.

Sevilla is larger and has more nightlife and also an amazing cathedral and Alcazar. As a city there is more going on. The one drawback is that it will be hot during the summer. The average daily high is 95 F (35 C) in July and August, and there will be several days over 100. But even if you don't stay here, you have to visit.

The advantage of Malaga is it's closer to the beaches, but you still have to travel a bit to get to the good ones. But it doesn't have the history and culture of the other two. I enjoyed it much less.

Whichever you choose, make sure you see at least Sevilla, Cordoba, and Granada during your stay. Have a great time!

I take it you mean next summer or depending where you live it could be this summer.

I suggest either Granada or Sevilla both are beautiful Spanish cities, both have lots of history and culture and both can be very hot in the summer, most locals disappear in August to cooler climes. The cathedral in Sevilla is awe inspiring and I guarantee when you walk in and see the altar your mouth will fall open.

As for the Spanish spoken in both cities it is Andalucian and the older generation can be difficult to understand.

Malaga is a good city but hasn't got the charm of the other two.

Good luck I hope whichever city you chose you enjoy it.

Granada and Sevilla are beautiful cities. You couldn't do wrong by choosing either. Studying in Granada will give you the opportunity to ski in winter on the Sierra Nevadas and you are fairly close to the coast which has very temperate weather in winter.
Please don't consider Málaga. It has nothing in common with either Sevilla or Granada. I live near Málaga and I do not like the city.
