Has Anybody Been To Barcelona?

Hi I'm 14 and going to Barcelona with my school soon. Never been before so would like to know what is there and what the weather is like and if the people are nice!

Also is there a time delay and do i need an adapter for a plug for my phone charger / straighteners!

Thanks in advance for any info =]

Bring a European adapter, it's the same one fall all the continent.

What can I say? Hot weather, fine beaches, lot's of night life, and lot's of sight seeings (Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell, Montjuic, Tibidabo...). I think we're quite nice, but as some one put it up there, don't expect any one to get all excited to see some British teens around. It's a big city and it's full of tourists. What I can advise you, as it happened to me yesterday and I'm still a bit annoyed, would be not to "expect" people to answer you in English. I mean, I do speak English, but I hate it when some English person comes to me and asks for directions or whatever in fast English. He/she should understand they are not in an English speaking country and it's not my obligation to speak English. I wouldn't go to London and expect people to understand me in Spanish. That sort of behaviour would make you look arrogant. Also, it's true Las Ramblas is full of criminal who are willing to get their hands in your bag or camera. But I used to work near there and not once did they pick pocketed me. Try not to look too tourist (you know, camera hanging, white socks with sandals, Mexican hat...) and avoid standing in the same spot in the street. Do not leave your bag hanging from the back of your chair or beside your feet, especially in tourist streets. Hope I have helped

Barcelona is a magnificent city, with some great architecture (check out the 'Sagrada Familia' Church, which is still being built ninety years after its architect, Antoni Gaudi, died). There are other Gaudi buildings in Barcelona well worth a visit, too.
A walk down the 'Ramblas' (a long wide pedestrian avenue) is also interesting, as there are usually lots of street artists and performers to be found there. At its sea end, is a column with a statue of Christopher Columbus pointing out to sea (it's a lot like Nelson's column in London's Trafalgar Square.)
There is a one hour time difference with the UK, they're an hour ahead (if it's 11:00 in the UK, it'll be 12:00 in Spain).
Yes, you will need plug adaptors as they use the continental two prong plug system.
Hope that helps a bit.
Enjoy your trip!

Buy the adaptor at the Airport. (£3 each at the worst).

Weather in summer is hot and sunny. 25 to 30 degrees.

People are very friendly and especially with younger people.

Go to your nearest public library and find a few books to read before you go.

I would not swim at the beach...ugh!
The nearest clean beach at a nice place is Sitges, less than an hour south by train.

Time delay. 5 o'clock in London, 6 o'clock in BCN

i've been! yes you do need an adapter. it's really fun there! just watch out for random naked old men walking down the street, and crack sellers on the beach.... and NEVER go off by yourself... i don't want to sound like a nag, but it's true.
oh and watch out for pickpockets! there is a lot there, make sure you get a discereet money belt, so no one can see where you keep it.
if your into art and stuff you really REALLY need to go to some of Gaudi's houses, they are amazing! and you need to go see La Sagrada Familia, it's breathtaking!
Las Ramblas is a fun street to walk down, there are street performers and if you give them coins they'll do stuff! i saw one dress like michael Jackson and when you give him money he does the moon walk! there was also an Edward Scissor hands!
You should also go to the Aquarium, it's really neat!
sorry for rambling, i just really loved it there! haha!

Ah yes. I went there when I was adressed to King Philip. Beautiful city. You're very lucky to be going there.

Lots of sights etc. Parc Guell, Cathedral, Fountains, Goldfish, Hard Rock Cafe, Live Statues, Las Ramblas.

Barcelona is a joy to visit. participate with your school and learn as much as you can. I recommend that you never go out alone - take at least 3 or 4 people with you - it is a place where trouble can find you. Be careful and be safe.
Be sure to see Park Gruel - in the daytime. Shop for anything you need at Corte Ingles. Be wary of people selling you stuff on the street - Las Ramblas is the worst / best place (depends on what you are buying).

I went to Barcelona when I went to Salou on my honeymoon.

Worth going to F.C.Barcelona if you are into football.

You will need A European plug adapter that will fit on the end of your plug, which as two pins on it to fit the plug sockets in Spain.

They are 1hr ahead of us.

I went to Barcelona a ton of times. It is beautiful there and the weather is perfect! It's not too hot and not too cold it's right in the middle. From the UK I think there's a 1 hour delay difference and I believe that you don't need a different adapter for your phone plug charger/straighteners, they are all the same in Europe.

Barcelona is very nice. The weather is warm, and when I was there it wasn't very rainy. You will need to get a voltage converter and adaptor for any U.S. appliance you bring other than laptop computers, since most of those have a built in converter. Barcelona is a big city and a touristy place so don't expect people to be incredibly happy to see yet another batch of american high school students, but as long as you are polite and keep in mind that you are a visitor in their country people are fairly nice for big city types. Petty crime is a big problem in Barcelona. Especially on La Rambla there are a lot of pickpockets and purse snatchers, as well as con artists. You always need to be aware of whats going on around you so you don't get ripped off. Also if you eat at the tourist cafes make sure you count your change, because the waiters have been known to try and rip people off. One tried to do it to me when I was there. The city is beautiful and there is a lot to see and do there but you do need to be careful and be sure that you don't go anywhere by yourself. You are very lucky to be going on this trip at your age. Make sure you make the most of it.

The streets of Barcelona are alive by day or night, providing the visitor with a safe place for strolling around, whether for shopping, eating or simply passing the time of day. There is also 1 mile long city beach with clean soft sand, ideal for sun bathing.
