As pointed out above, this resort does cater for the Germans. Saying that it a nice, clean resort.
Next to El Arenal is Can Pastilla, which caters for the English. You can walk into Pastilla from Arenal or catch the bus, I think the bus only cost 1.20e which is cheap.
The beaches are lovely and clean. With a five year old, it will be a nice holiday for your party.

Sorry but I don't agree with others above.
I'm Spanish and we don't like areas as Arenal or Can Pastilla.
This are the typical touristic places wich are crowded of tourists coming for the noisy fun and to drink all what they can.
Any other part of this nice island would be better.
