I stayed near Salou, La Pinneda I think. Went to salou a bit, quite nice, not sure i'd have liked to have stayed in a hotel in the heart of salou because they all looked a bit crapped in and not very nice, but salou itself is nice. Things to do on the sea front, ie jet skiing banana boats etc (sandy beach of course!) Markets, ad not too far away is the Port Aventura theme park (and is sister park the costa carribe, which is next door but its a water park) You will need to organise a trip with tour reps which they will undoubtly offer, because you'll need a coach to get there. But yea its a nice place to go. Everyone speaks english (which was annoying because i was speaking to them in spanish, obviously they can tell im english, and responded in english!! grrr i want to practise my spanish!!)

Fantastic - been all over spain, done that and got the tee shirt, but nothing compairs to Salou. Cap Salou is just a little quite mountain part of Salou itself plenty of fun in portafuntura. its that good I will be going back for the 3rd time

Stayed there in June and had a lovely time- clean beaches, lots of nice bars, a vibrant little place.

You're a 1 hour 45 minute train ride from Barcelona, which has a fantastic zoo and some amazing architecture. You are a 10-20 minute bus ride from Port Adventura Theme Park and Water Park (the only Universal Studios Theme Park in Europe). You are about 15 minutes away by free bus to a go-karting place. There is a lot to see and do for all ages.

It is tourist based - that is a lot of shops and bars/restaraunts - but not tacky. Everywhere is clean, there are lots of wide open spaces and play areas and the beaches are spotless, sandy and run for miles. Night life is brilliant and the people are all incredibly friendly and speak good English. There is absolutelu loads to see and do and many activities can be arranged via an organised excursion. I'd recommend Portaventura - a massive theme park and a trip to Barcelona zoo. I got my hair braided whilst there and my son went go-karting and swam in the sea for the first time. You can look up your hotel/the area at
http://www.tripadvisor.com if you want to know more.

Have a wonderful holiday and don't forget your sun cream!

I stayed in Cap Salou in 1987, nice place, just a short bus ride from Salou itself.
I stayed in the hotel at the top of the hill next to the main road. Nice enough apart from 50% German.
The best bit was though that the bathrooms were built on either side of ventilation shafts running bottom to top of the hotel, with a ventilation grill above the bath.....I quickly found that at a certain angle you could see straight through to next-doors bathroom.
If the timing was right I was able to admire the women in next doors apartment!....Viva-Espania!
