Holidays to spain, PLEASE help nobody ever answers :( :(?

Basically, I am 15, me and my parent want to go on a family holiday. But I am absolutely petrified of flying. And I don't enjoy it when I'm there, dreading the plane journey home, we wanted to go somewhere like benidorm, nice white beaches, blue seas and really hot weather. Are there any other ways to get there? Like I know you can get coach, train, ferry, any experiences, time taken? Costs? Thanks so much :)

I hate flying to. However, it is the best way to travel. I still hate it, but I have had hundreds of flights over the past 30 years. What you have to remember, there will be people just as scared of flying like you on your plane, but they do it.

I've taken the boat from Bilbo to England before... I HATE THE SEA... it is a LONG jounrey with rough sea...

I've come back via the train from France... it was a VERY long car journey...

it oftern works out to be VERY expensive, when you compare it to a Ryanair or Spanair flight for 30€, then the boat for 100€+ and the train is about the same before petrol

Why not have a down-to-earth conversation with your parents regarding your fear of flying ... they will oblige by giving you information of your need to know about coach, train, ferry etc costs. Writing to Yahoo!Answers will not solve your problem. Why not consider yourself lucky to have the opportunity to spend some wonder days with your parents .. treasure the few years you still have with them! Good memories are so important in life! Enjoy yourself with those who love you plus go on a vacation! WOW!

I also have a fear of flying. I have to take KALMS tablets before i go. To benidorm the flight isnt long but it is worth it. I would say try Kalms tablets.

Ask a travel agent or google info on it.

But why not eliminate the phobia altogether? Try these sites as I know they both have a fear of flying cd/mp3:

hypnosisdownloads.com
potentialsunlimited.com

Play the cd for 30 days, you'd be amazed at what can happen. If you don't beleive me then try another one first for something else, like a habit you are trying to break. I play them while I'm sleeping & they still work. I don't work for these companies, I'm just going by my own success with this kind of thing.

You should know that those white beaches and really hot water only exist in the caribbean and those latitudes. In Spain beaches have a normal colour(beige-light brown) and water is hot only in september and in the mediterranean sea. Although we do have blue seas. But benidorm is not nice. With all those skyscrapers as hotels, the beach gets really full. Look at the photo in the link. I recommend you to go somewhere else if you come to Spain. like Cambrils, Salou...
And with the being afraid of flying, (I'm guessing you are british and not american), you might be able to take a high speed train that leaves you in Barcelona and take another train there to wherever you want to go. Look it up in your country. But you should really don't be scared about flying. There are many less accidents that in the roads. if you go by coach you will have many more probabilities of having an accident than if you go by plane.
Have fun!

Information on trains and coaches is readily available on the internet.

I imagine if you were to put something like Britrail.com into the search window, the British Rail Company's website would come up, and you can do everything from search trips to buy them for all of the possible connections from there. You'll, of course, have to pay for the extremely expensive and luxurious Eurostar to get to Spain (through Paris, of course).

I have no idea of the names of coach companies that travel that sort of route.

You can even drive, taking the ferries (there's one from, I believe Plymouth to Santander - and, of course, the routes that end in France, as well) and then driving the rest of the way. That would take quite some time, but could be quite an adventure! I think it would be fun to drive through France, stopping wherever the mood strikes you...of course, your driver would have to be willing to stop, rather than constantly keep an eye on when you'll arrive...which is a common problem on road trips.
