Hotel suggestions in Barcelona?

We are looking for a hotel for one night only, near most tourist attractions rather than the city because we are only there a day and a half. Reasonably priced and 4 star. and what are some of the must sees there?

Hi Sunayna,

I have list of hotels starting from Rs.1153/- whereas minimum price for a four star hotel would cost you approx. 3202/-. I would suggest you to go through the link to see the list of more then 300 hotels in different location of Barcelona, where you have an option to choose your nearest possible hotel.

http://www.ixigo.com/search/result/hotel/barcelona,%20spain/01052009/03052009/1/0/0/0/0/0

n only for the four star you can click here:

http://www.ixigo.com/search/result/hotel/barcelona,%20spain/01052009/03052009/1/0/0/0/0/0

or you can check at:

yatra.com or makemytrip.com for similar information.

I personally like iXiGO, as it always works for me :-)

Be prepared to change your pace, as Barcelona is a city that comes alive only at night. Dinner is commonly taken at 10 PM or later and nightlife extends for hours after that 

Places to visit in Barcelona:
1. Walk down Les Rambles and cut into the old city (Barri Gòtic). Visit the cathedral and surrounding areas.

2. Visit Parc Güell and take in all the Gaudí monuments in the park.

3. Visit Picasso Museum and spend at least three hours there. Do walk around the neighborhood around the museum.

4. Walk up and down Passeig de Gràcia - specially around 7pm when everyone is out for a stroll. Just take in the wonderful architecture and do a bit of window shopping.

5. Visit Casa Milà (also known as "La Pedrera"), Casa Batlló and Sagrada Familia . These are Gaudí's masterpieces. They are incredible buildings. Do climb the towers of Sagrada Familia.

6. Take the Bus Touristic for a day - it is around 20 bucks per person per day but it is worth it. You can get on and off as many times as you want and visit all the key sites.

7. Take both the old tram ( Tram via Blau) and Funicular up to the Tibidabo. Tibidabo is a hill overlooking Barcelona with amazing views. There is an amusement park, a Catholic Church, and a Communications Tower ( Torre de Collserola) by Norman Foster which provides the highest viewpoint over the city.

8. Pay a visit to Port Olympic late an night - really late at night. The bars are hopping.

9. Day trip to Montserrat by train..not by car but by train. You will have to take a cable car (Montserrat Aeri) from Montserrat-Aeri station or a rack railway (Cremallera de Montserrat) from Monistrol de Montserrat to the actual monastery. You can easily spend a whole day there.

10. Take a sail boat trip on the sea and take the view of the city from the sea. The best place to find boad will be at the end of Las Rambles off of Colon monument; these boats are known as Las Golondrinas.

11. Barcelona FC football match if the season is on. Whilst in Barcelona, why not go and see one of the best teams in the world in at Camp Nou Stadium (one of the biggest stadiums in the world). You can buy your tickets in advance online (check outwww.footballticketsbarcelona.com orhttp://www.spanishfootballtickets.com...) or at the stadium on the day of the match.

12. The Magic Fountains of Monjuic. Run from 9.30pm - 11pm on weekends throughout October - May, then the days are extended. Lights, water, music, amazing! Espanya is the nearest metro stop and its all free!

Hope this information helps.

Happy Traveling:-)

Five years ago I stayed in an apparthotel in the Rambles. Called Citadines. Very good standard. And very central. We were very happy with it.

This one is great. Walking distance to La Boqueria, Las Ramblas and La Sagrada Familia. Many tapas bars and is safe and reasonable. I have stayed here and would go back.

Barcelona is quite a small city, but the tourist attractions are relatively spread out, depending on what you actually want to see. My advice would be to pick somewhere pretty central, such as Plaça Catalunya where you have good transport connections and is right at the top of the Ramblas, which you definitely should not miss. Perhaps the H10 Catalunya Plaza Hotel, although it is only 3 starts.

From Plaça Catalunya you can take the tourist bus and hop off and on for anything you want to see in detail. Other than that a single day in Barcelona isn't really enough.
