Hello my husband and I will be traveling to Madrid in February and are looking for a hotel to stay in that is inexpensive yet nice enough and in a good location. Any ideas or tips on the hotel or anything in Madrid would be greatly appriciated :o) Thanks!

A good and inexpensive hotel is the NH Alcala, it is steps away from the Jardin del Retiro in the Salamanca area, opposite a metro station that can take you anywhere. Must-see places are: Plaza de Armas, take a stroll in the Jardin del Retiro, very romantic!
If you are planning to go in February, prepare yourselves for cold weather.

We stayed at a really nice place just steps from the Plaza Mayor, and a five minute walk from the Puerta del Sol (and the metro). It's a Hostal, no real amenities, just a clean, quiet room in a nice location.

Also: Check with madridman.com for all sorts of great information, including a forum for all your questions.

And if you stay near there, go to the pastelería at Puerta del Sol across from the Tío Pepe sign. It´s called La Mallorqueña. really good treats!
