I also spent a year in Spain as a student [20 years ago], and thoroughly enjoyed it.

My impression of Spain and Spaniards is very positive, so much so that I often think of it as my "segunda patria" [second homeland].

The country is beautiful, having a varied topography: mountains, forests, deserts, beaches, etc.

The people are energetic...passionate about life. They are proud of their diverse cultures. They really know how to have a good time.

I wish I had more to write, but I must leave now.

Spain is an amazing place, and is that way because of the Spaniards. I'd go to Spain tomorrow if I could.

I am American. I spent a year in Sevilla during my universtiy studies, many years ago. Just went back for the first time. Much has changed. Not so much that I didn't expect it, though, from things people had told me. People are better off than they were. Women are less timid than they were. Still, the people were as great as they always were. And I had a wonderful time then, and we all had a wonderful time this trip.

people are people, if that's what you mean.

educated people know this. We don't think that everyone walks around in flamenco dress all the time, dancing, and bullfighting. Don't think you would find that strong a stereotype, here, but you will find a lot of people who mistake Mexican for Spanish, and think that all Spaniards are dark, like the Mexicans who have lots of native blood, (mestizos) or Puerto Ricans, who have darker skin. I think, even those of use who have lived there, are sometimes surprised to meet someone who doesn't look typically "spanish" (to me, lots of Moorish look, Andaluz...I tend to be surprised when someone tells me they are from, say, Barcelona, and look more French).

Well I know what little I do from reading Hemmingway. I guess I asume they are more relaxed, have a love of music, are traditonal, belive in machismo, watch bull fights, still belive greatly in honor. I realize this maybe inaccurate, and do apolgize if it is, but that is about it. Always wanted to visit there, seems really nice, again this is from reading Hemmingway.

The Spanish-American war was years ago.... I'm sure they are over it by now lol.
Yeah that guy above me is right they are not Mexican, Hispanic, or Latino. Also remember there are other languages in Spain besides Castellano (the language that was brought to the Americas).

I plan on going next January!
