Basically, there are two sets of rules for moving to Spain.

One for those who are members of the European Union, in
which case you should be treated the same as any Spanish
resident/national (although you'll need your passports, and
being treated the "same" does not mean being treated
"better"!). If you find work, your employer should advise you
about paperwork.

The other set of rules are for non-European Union members.
In this case, if you're planning on living and working in Spain,
you'll need to obtain certain papers before leaving your
country. Request information from the embassy in your
own country.

You can just get up and go as we are all in the EU. However, it is not so easy now to obtain work as it used to be some years ago. If you don't work (or are retired) then you will need private health care which you may find expensive.
I have lived in Spain 16 years and each year more Brits come to Spain, alot return within 3 years, so take your time and think things through very carefully as there may be no turning back. Good luck

If you already live in the EU you can just go. With regards to buying a house or a car whilst living there you will need an NIE, which is a foreigners id number. This can be applied for from the Spanish Embassy in England or whilst you are living in Spain. Medical cards can also be applied for whilst living in Spain and you just have to make an application to the school for your son. Depending where in Spain you are thinking of living depends on how easy things can be, ie: the language. We live in Galicia, Northern Spain where very little English is spoken, so learning the language is essential. Obviously other parts of Spain are different. If you need any other info. contact me.

you can just up and go ,but once your settled in ,you have to apply to live there ,I'm sure you have to go to the police station to apply for a number which then enables you to work and be entitled to use Spain's facility's ,i would look into having an extended holiday so you sort out what you have to do,,good luck hope all goes well for you.....

You need a valid passport and go to the Spanish Embassy, or Consulate which is located in most major cities.

you can up and leave and register when there make sure there is good schools and facilities for son

You can come here with no problems, except let me advise you, that if you are not married and you buy property it can get complicated............should one partner die suddenly and you are not married the tax situation is criminal on property, it happened to an english pal of mine she got screwed good when her partner died................always take out a residents permit, you must also obtain an NIE number for opening bank accounts, registering with doctors, and work..........

It depends what nationality you have. If you are a European citizen, you can work anywhere in Europe without needing a work permit. I have moved to Spain from the UK and my advice would be "just do it". Don't think too much about it, just go. It is the best decision I have ever made!

Not sure, but if you look up spanish immigration, the site has a lot of info re. work permits etc.

You do not need a work permit provided you were born or are a resident of an EU country. You can just up sticks and fly or drive to Spain. The law is the same as in the UK, you will need to register with the relevant government department - but otherwise no problems.
