The best time to go over would be May or June. Buy a cheap Spannish mobile and leave your number everywhere. Expect to earn about 40 euros a day in a bar but youl have to find your own accommodation. I spent a year living in Gran Canaria and loved every minuate of it. Have fun. |

Right - book a week/2week holiday in the place you want to go with return flights. You should be able to pick this up as a late deal for about £200.
Get the flight over to the destination of you're choice and as soon as you get there (preferably the middle of may when season begins) start looking around for jobs. Ask bars, restaurants, hotels.. everywhere you can until you get a job.
Once this is sorted ask about accomodation - once you have a job the local bar owners who employ workers should be able to point you in the right direction towards accomodation. You then check them out and get one. You will need a deposite - if not a deposite then atleast a breakages bond which should be paid in advance to secure you're accomodation.
Then move in asap - start work.
I'd take around £700 euros with you for you're months rent and money to feed yourself etc.
The accomodation will be basic though depending on you're budget. Probably just a bed in a quite dark room.......but you'll only be sleeping there.
You'l get paid about 30/40 euros a night I reckon. Depending obviously on what you do - Remember though you should get paid at the end of each shift or at the latest once a week - Never fall for getting paid monthly.... the chances are there probably ripping you off.
You'l have a great time and you'l meet LOTS of other people in you're situation. Don't worry, honestly accomodation and work is so easy to find the chances are you'll find both within the first 5 bars you approach.
I've considered doing this myself I have various friends who have.
Oh & by the way - The return flight I suggest you booked as part of the package is simply so that if you do get out there and change you're mind or for some bizzare reason cannot find work or accomodation - you have a flight home to fall back on. I wish you all the best.

Why are you planning to come to work here. Is it the sunshine, the laid back lifestyle, the tourists, the cheap cost of living or what. It is a great life here, but you have to get yourself a place here before you can even think of getting a job. How much money have you to get started. You'll need money to get a place and pay upfront. Getting a job anywhere in Spain right now is going to be difficult, even more so for foreigners. You can get bar work with long hours for very little wages. I live in Spain, not Mallorca, that's just an Island. That will be more difficult to get a job other than bar work.
I'm not trying to be grim about it, it's just the reallity of it. I have no idea how old you are, but if you are less than 30, why not save for the future and come here in a better economic climate. |

if you going to do it make sure you got some emergency money and never leave yourself skint also make sure you leave the money at one side to get yourself home (also why not be a rep with 18 to 30s or a rep at least your guarennted work ) as long you do your work
if your going to work abroad your going because you want to work (not for a holiday) |
