my girlfriend is spanish she says its around 1000k, more or less, north west of barcelona which is on the north east coast of spain

There is a train. It is traditionally called the 'Shanghai' because it takes as long as a slow boat to China!

Driving will take 11 hours (not including breaks).

It is a long way about 1300 km.

It very far, about 1.000 km far... I don´t know if you go by car... but if you don´t have it is better if you take a train directly...
