People are really nice. So friendly, so kind, so helpful...
The area is also very nice, although I can speak only about Barcelona and Costa Brava, as those are the only places in Spain I have visited by now.
I spent several days in Barcelona and I find her really amazing. Her architecture is marvelous! And I don't mean only the most famous constructions like Sagrada Familia, but architecture in general. I have also been fascinated by colors. Most of the buildings are in light colors, white, yellow and red, no gray buildings, and when it is very sunny (and it is sunny most of the year), the city looks so bright and beautiful. Then there are wide boulevards, nice squares and parks... So, the city is very beautiful as a whole. Then the famous monuments and buildings themselves, including the masterpieces of Gaudi, but not only them... Also Las Ramblas Street, considered to be one of the most beautiful streets in Europe, and the old part of the city in its surroundings, where instead of the great avenues one can find narrow streets. Finally, those wonderful people mentioned above, a great atmosphere and a great fun! Apart from being so beautiful, the city of Barcelona is very dynamic and lively, so a visitor will enjoy every moment spending there.
Costa Brava is also very nice. I have been in Lloret de Mar and I liked the place very much.
I recommend you to go and visit Spain as soon as possible. You will really enjoy it!

Go as soon as you have a chance

To me, Spain is the warmest (people wise) country in Europe. You'll love it!

Great Food!

I lived near Madrid from '73 to '77 and traveled all over the country. At that time the country was about 20 years behind the US. Everything was cheap, the countrysides were beautiful the cities where beautiful and the people were warm and inviting. The buildings and infrastructure needed a lot of help, especially in the mid and small size cities and towns.

I went back five years ago, since Spain has joined the Economic Common Market. Things cost a lot more, but MANY of the all churches, palaces and castles have had reconstruction and face lifts. The roads are greatly improved and they have bigger and faster railway service.

The people were just as nice and the countryside is just as beautiful. I love it there.

I was there in high school far too many years ago to mention. My husband is Puerto Rican, but his grandfather was Basque and he can trace his family back to the Delgado Islands just off the coast. If you find the money, absolutely go! They are the nicest people and the place is fascinating! There are old convents and monasteries and other type places that the government took over years ago and transformed them into really good hotels for not very much money, but you have to make your reservations a year or so in advance because they are so popular. I could go on and on. It would even be more fun because you have family there.

I really liked Spain. The people were nice, many of the cities were pretty, and the countryside was lovely. It would definitely be easier if you speak Spanish, but it was a great place to go. I would love to go back.

Go. You'll find some of the most courteous and friendly people in Europe.
