How long would I survive in Spain if my only knowledge of Spanish comes from watching Manuel in Fawlty Towers?
You´d get by especially on the Costas. I know people who´ve been here for over 20 years and not learnt Spanish. The further you go inland the more difficult it would get. Around the Torrevieja area you´ll be had pushed to hear anyone speak Spanish or even see a Spaniard.
