This depends greatly in where you are going in Spain. The regions Costa Brava and Costa del Sol, Marbella area tend to be more expensive than the Costa Blanca. However, I live on the Costa Blanca and can tell you that if you eat in you will find the price of food not that much different to the UK. Market fruit and veg is cheap but there's always a danger that the kids might spot a toy or something they want aswell:))
Eating out in small bars, cafes is cheap, and drinks are too. Around 5E to 9E per person for a 3 course meal. If you are thinking of sitting near the water front to eat or drink you will pay a premium for the view, so back street locations are generally cheaper.
As for excursions etc, don't be fooled by your rep, they are on commission for every bum they put on a bus going somewhere, and you can usually find the local bus takes you to the same place for half the price so be a little adventurous and ask the receptionist where you can catch the bus to i.e Guadalest, or Mundomar (if staying in Benidorm) Apart from that you will enjoy the adventure aswell. However one word of warning, please be careful of pickpockets at bus stops, train stations, markets etc they are very sharp here in Spain. No rep will warn you of this but like anywhere it happens!
If you are coming to the Costa and wish to know more about excursions here, mail me, I would be happy to help.
Have a great time |

It depends on the age of your kids and if your going to eat in or out , if your going to eat in mainly the cost of living in Spain is cheaper than here , eating out is reasonable unless your hitting the posh ones, if you can do it take around £900 you can always bring some back and should be able to do ,but it's always better to have a bit of spare cash for emergency's, most of all have a good holiday. |

We went to Spain (Costa Blanca) in August, 2 adults and 2 teenagers (who eat and drink like adults!) ..... we spent £1000 in a week, but ate out for every meal, drank till the early hours, couple of excursions etc. Hope this helps. |

hi clair, you would,nt be spending too much if you kept away from the tourist area of spain.a typical meal in a cheap tapa,s bar wont cost you an arm and a leg. i don,t know whereabouts in spain you are going but if you work on 200 euro,s per person you should be ok roughly about 150 pounds per head that should cover you enough hope this helps |
