18 years is the legal age. But they often turn a blind eye on 16 years old people.
Most bars and pubs (that are not like the typical irish or english pubs, but like small discoteques with free entry) don't ask you for your ID, so if you look with a "suitable age" you won't have any problem. For large discoteques depends. Most ask for your ID, and even if you're older than 18 years old and you look like so, they will ask for it. I saw last summer how a group of 4 mature couples (aprox. 40-years old) couldn't get into the discoteque since they hadn't got their ID. On the same club, the weekend before, my cousin that was 16 years old at that moment could entry. The following week (when those couples couldn't entry) she couldn't.
So, it's not exactly about the age, but to control who's inside.
Some discos are strict, other don't, it depends on the disco, on the security men that ask you for your ID or don't...
EDIT: to Gabi, I've never heard that some places could let you entry only if you're 21 or so. I think that no club has that rules. |
