as Spanish, I would say that Spain is what we know nowadays since 1492, in this year all spanish land was reconquered from Muslims and American continent was discovered by Cristóbal Colón.
In this year the spanish empire was born.

yes, Spain is exactly 516 years old.

Spain have people since more than 780.000 years ( Atapuerca).
But, Hispania, was "created" in 2 a.c....
But a lot of cities of Spain, have more than 2. ac.

Spain, and the rest of europe, have a long history.
USA is so "young", so you can say where was the begining. but Europe, have change a lot. Spain, was Castilla, and Aragón, Sometimes Portugal, even Italy and nederlands...Is so difficult.

Spain has been where it is since....Gosh, I had to pay thousands of dollars to learn all that stuff. Do your own research for your project.

Spain was first made up of lot's of little ´countires´ most of the ´countires´ still exist =) in one way or another such as a region... or local language =)

but Modern Spain as you know it wasn't made until the 70´s when Franco died and the country returned to Demorocy =) But you can read all about it on Wikipedia =)

-_- why the thumbs down... ? Spain as a land mass that is found today wasn't created untill 1956... but the Governement that is found today was created after the death of Francisco Franco... in the late 1970´s
