Spain became the country that it is today, in 1492, los Reyes Cat贸licos had joined most of the country by their marriage, and defeated the Moors in Granada, creating most of what you know today. Some few years later, Navarra was added, setting the basic borders as they are today.
1492 is generally cited as the official date. |

The modern "country" of "Spain" dates from the unification of the kingdoms of Aragon, Castile, Le贸n, and Navarre. If you use the date 1492 when Ferdinand and Isabella defeated Granada, the country is around 500 years old. However, Spain has been inhabited since prehistoric times, the Basques probably are descended from the original inhabitants, 35,000 years ago. Spain was also inhabited before that by precursors to modern man at least 1.2 million years ago. |

In fact Navarra was annexed in 1512, So that would be the date. Of course it doesn't have the same territories. By then they were conquering America and had some more territories in Africa an what now is Italy, the shout of Italy. And afterward It formed one of the biggest if not the biggest empires with territories in America, Asia, Africa and Europe (what now is Belgium, Germany The south of Italy...) With Carlos I of Spain and V from Germany. He bought with the gold brought from America the title of germany. Look in internet, I'm sure it's very well explained |

That's because it's like asking how old is the country of France. It depends on your point of view. It depends on what you mean by "country" too. Put it in those ambiguous terms, there's no right or wrong answer to that question, as it's the case with most european countries. My advise to you is to check "Spain", or better "History of Spain" on wikipedia.org. |

The unification of the kingdoms of Aragon, Castile, Le贸n, and Navarre laid the basis for modern Spain and the Spanish Empire
Almost immediately after the union of the two kingdoms under Ferdinand III, the parliaments of Castile and Le贸n were united. It was divided into three estates, which corresponded with the nobility, the church and the cities, and included representation from Castile, Le贸n, Galicia, Toledo, Navarre and the Basque provinces. Initially the number of cities represented in the Cortes varied over the next century, until John I premanently set those that would be allowed to send representatives (procuradores): Burgos, Toledo, Le贸n, Sevilla, C贸rdoba, Murcia, Ja茅n, Zamora, Segovia, 脕vila, Salamanca, Cuenca, Toro, Valladolid, Soria, Madrid and Guadalajara (with Granada added after its conquest in 1492).
But obviously ,that麓s about Modern Spain. If you look at it,Hispania existed during the Roman Empire, and before that as well, and also millions of years ago... |
