Shay.

How open is the general public and culture around tattoo's and dreads in Barcelona, Spain?

I think it depends on the attitude of the person carrying/wearing such dreadlocks and tattoos. If that person has a light, positive, or cheery disposition they'll be accepted. If that person is serious, solemn, and negative they'll probably be feared by the general population.

But the fact is Spain's cities are very tolerant of such things and dreads and tatts are not out of the ordinary. The older generation WILL LIKELY look at you with an odd-eye, will likely stare, and may not trust you though. This IS very common with them.

The younger generations won't look at you twice.

Enjoy Barcelona! I know you will.

Barcelona is a very cool and tolerant city. You won't be the only one there with dreads and tattoo's. I've lived there 2 years and sure you will love it.

You will see all kinds there. Really modern and cosmopolitan place.

Lots of things that are more open there, than in the US.

I´m from Barcelona.
Barcelona is a very tolerant and cosmopolitan city.A lot of people have tattoo´s and dreads. It is quite common around young people,as much as it can be on other european cities.
When looking for a job they are quite tolerant as well,as long as it isn´t too much I imagine.
You can still see old people staring at young people with tattoo´s,but they are getting used to it.(Old I mean old...people around their 80s)
Quite popular really.
